Conclusion



 



Dover Saddlery is a front-runner in its field with high quality offerings of various equestrian products and services.  Their offerings are widely ranged and they are successful in providing customized products when customers demand them.  Talking with the Rebecca Przywara was very helpful in understanding how the company manages the business and most importantly its inventory.   We were able to better understand the applications learned in class and have a glimpse as to how they are applied in real business.
 
Our research and conversations with the manager have proven the necessity of effective operations management – from scheduling workers to ordering inventory and warehouse management.


We do recommend that Dover Saddlery integrate its pricing codes with manufacturer SKUs in a more efficient manner to significantly reduce the time employees spend on processing sales in store, online, etc.  This will also aid in decreasing internal inventory level mistakes cause by input of wrong product codes during the sales process.  

We conclude that process control, planning and scheduling, inventory management, and the effective utilization of all resources is vital for Dover Saddlery and its highly specialized field of business. Operations Management – and all of its components - is a critical functional area in business.
